Dingle Tour

Hello Family & Friends:

Days 11-31: Rathmore

On April 18th Robbie and I boarded a bus for a full day tour of the Dingle Peninsula, Inch Beach, and Slea Head. The scenery on this tour was stunning! We also stopped to pet baby lambs and lamas, which I did not expect to enjoy as much as I did!

Our tour guide was an older woman who gave us non-stop commentary on the area, and even favored us with a few Irish ballads (NOT my cup of tea!). These day tours can be tiring, on and off the bus all day long, but the views are spectacular and we enjoyed every minute!

Inch Beach

The Rolling Hills of Ireland

Everywhere we went the landscape was lush green and dotted with sheep.

Petting Sheep

We stopped at a petting zoo. When I originally read about this I wasn’t interested, until I got there. And then it ended up being one of my favorite stops! We fed the animals and enjoyed lambs, sheep, lamas, and ponies.

Lamas

These lamas! Oh. My. Gosh. I wanted to take one home. They are so fuzzy and soft and we were able to walk right up to them. Highlight of the day! 🙂

Beehive Huts

The Fahan Beehive Huts (or clocháin) are a remarkable group of ancient drystone, conical-shaped dwellings located on the Slea Head Drive in County Kerry, Ireland. Built using corbelling (stacking stone inward without mortar), these structures date from the 7th to 12th centuries and served as early monastic cells, hermitages, and later, farming homesteads.

The beauty of this view is beyond words.

St. Mary’s Church, Dingle

Dingle Bay

Next up, our tour of the Ring of Kerry. See you there!
